First sushi and matcha

Hey there! New week - new orientation. This time it was mainly about culture shock (I wonder when I will experience one) and very diverse information on regulations, formalities and earthquakes (even more excited to see this happen). Everything is also explained in the huge pile of paper we received at the beginning though. Hasn't Japan gone digital yet?

In the lunch break, we girls went out for some food. It was very difficult to decide, but eventually we ended up in a very nice, sushi place. Apparently, the more authentic a place looks like, the less likely are the people there to speak English ;) We were lucky Francesca speaks Japanese pretty well, so we could figure out what we could order at all. Figuring out how to eat it correctly, on the other hand, was a bit harder, but it made it all very fun. :) We ordered three portions of sushi, hoping it will be enough for the five of us. It all came with poached eggs, miso soup and matcha tea, and in the end it was a real struggle to finish all that... although it was so good.

Looks like not much, but that's very misleading

All that was just 390 yen per person. So if anyone is telling you Japanese food is expensive - don't believe them! You just have to know where to go. :)

To close the orientation, there was a campus tour by very motivated (or not) Japanese students. Quite a short one, but I could catch a few views of the campus. You see Fukuzawa Yukichi (the Keio University founder), the old library ("It is not used anymore so you don't have to remember it" - tour guide) a nice building I don't know the purpose of yet.

The rest of the day I was running around (again!) getting the last things done, like looking for a new SIM card (the one I bought wasn't working) and purchasing a student commuter pass for the train. As I also had to return the unfitting adapters, fortunately, it is very uncomplicated to get a refund on things in a store - it just makes the shop assistant look so unhappy. :(

By the way - here's the photo from the maid café yesterday :D

Myu myu!
I hope you enjoyed your weekend and had a good week start!
